Why Professional Dog Training Benefits Glendale Dog Owners

Living in an urban setting like Glendale means your dog regularly encounters distractions such as traffic noise, other dogs, pedestrians, and busy public spaces. Professional training helps address these real-world challenges through structure, consistency, and guided behavior improvement.

Safer Walks

Professional dog training helps improve safety and control during walks in Glendale neighborhoods where distractions are constant.

Better Public Manners

Training can support calmer behavior in public spaces, apartment buildings, and around guests at your door.

Stronger Communication

Working with a trainer helps you and your dog build clearer communication, stronger trust, and more consistent expectations.

Lasting Behavior Improvements

Structured training helps create habits that become part of your dog’s daily life rather than temporary behavior changes.

Personalized Support

Private training sessions allow trainers to focus on your dog’s specific needs, behavior concerns, and learning style in a more controlled setting.

Our Dog Training Programs in Glendale

Private lessons provide flexible scheduling to accommodate busy lives while delivering focused instruction on the skills your dog needs most.

Starter Training is a single private lesson designed to help owners gain an understanding of the training methods before fully committing. This program includes professional instruction, an introduction to the training approach, an Off-Leash K9 Training e-collar, and a 15-foot training leash. It works well for dog owners who want to experience the methods before choosing a more comprehensive program.

Basic Obedience Package consists of four private lessons covering essential commands, including come, sit, extended sit, down, extended down, place, extended place, and heel for loose leash or off-leash walking. The program also teaches the “off” command to stop unwanted behaviors like jumping, barking, and mouthing. An e-collar and training leash are included.

Board and train programs are designed for busy dog owners who want to jump-start their dog’s obedience training. These programs involve the dog staying with a professional trainer for a set period, receiving intensive daily training in a structured environment.

1-Week Board & Train is an immersive on-leash program focused on mastering the basics. Your dog learns come on command, sit and extended sit, place and extended place, down and extended down, loose leash walking, off to stop unwanted behaviors, greeting manners, door manners, and meal manners. An e-collar is included. After completion, owners receive a 1.5-hour one-on-one session to review what the dog learned and how to handle the dog properly going forward.

2-Week Board & Train provides two weeks of immersive training with lifetime refreshers included. This program covers sit and extended sit, place and extended place, off-leash heeling, down and extended down, full off-leash recall, extended distance sit, extended distance down, off to stop unwanted behaviors, greeting manners, door manners, and meal manners. Owners receive a 2-hour one-on-one session after completion, an e-collar, and free refreshers for life.

After completing a board and train program, owners receive follow-up instruction to help maintain the training and reinforce good behaviors at home.

Puppy Training Options

Early training is crucial for puppies as it lays the foundation for their social and emotional development, helping them become well-behaved dog companions. Puppy training classes should focus on more than just basic obedience; they are essential for teaching puppies life skills and building confidence.

Puppy Orientation is a single private in-person session for puppies under 5 months. Topics covered include basic commands such as come, sit, place, and down, confidence building, socializing, reinforcing good behavior, house-breaking, crate training, and answering owner questions about their pup and training.

Online Puppy Training Course provides accessibility and convenience for owners who prefer learning at their own pace. This online video course includes 24 video modules, 8 worksheets, and 3 hours of training content. Topics include potty training, confidence building, crate training, leadership, basic commands using marker and reward techniques, and preventing or diagnosing common puppy problems.

Our Training Process in Glendale

Step 1: Free Consultation

The process begins with an assessment of your dog’s current behavior and training needs. This conversation covers your training goals, lifestyle factors, and any specific behavioral issues you want to address. Based on your dog’s age and the challenges involved, you receive a program recommendation that fits your situation.

Step 2: Program Selection

Choose between private lessons or board and train options based on your schedule, budget, and how quickly you need results. Dog training programs can be customized to fit the specific needs and lifestyles of dog owners, ensuring that each dog receives the appropriate training for their unique personality and behavior.

Step 3: Professional Training

Expert instruction uses proven e-collar methods in a structured learning environment designed for optimal results. Modern e-collar training utilizes low-level stimulation that is barely perceptible to humans, allowing for effective communication and control without causing harm to the dog. This approach is rooted in clear communication and trust, distinguishing it from outdated shock collar methods.

Step 4: Owner Education and Support

Training does not end when your dog finishes a program. Detailed handoff sessions transfer the skills to you so you can maintain progress at home. The 1-Week Board & Train includes a 1.5-hour one-on-one session, while the 2-Week Board & Train provides a 2-hour session plus lifetime refresher options.

Success Stories from Glendale Dog Owners

Rated 5 out of 5

I highly recommend Off-Leash K9 Training! If you’ve even remotely thought of doing any sort of training for your dog, this is the place. Gustavo aka “Goose” was an amazingly patient and thorough trainer for my 7.5 year old yellow lab mix, also named Goose. “Goose” was able to connect with my Goose so quickly and gave me the skills I needed to do the same thing when we weren’t in his trainings. My dog Goose is better with recall, and I am now completely comfortable with him being off leash, now that I have the right tools and Goose has had the proper training. Thank you so much again!

Gustavo in Denver is an amazing trainer! I dropped off my puppy as an extremely anxious dog for the 2 week boarding and training program. He would cry/whine, shake uncontrollably, jump, refuse to walk with anybody but me. I really was at my wit’s end. Sam came home knowing all commands and overall a happier dog. I still have a ways to go but such a BIG improvement. The e collar is a game changer as well. Gustavo is a kind and caring person. I knew Sam was in good hands with Gustavo. I HIGHLY recommend Gustavo at Off-Leash K-9 Training! Look at the improvement in the photos. The first photo is Day 1!

Frequently Asked Questions About Dog Training in Glendale

What training methods do you use?

Off-Leash K9 Training – Denver uses professional e-collar training methods that prioritize clear communication between dog and owner. E-collar training can significantly improve a dog’s recall ability, making it possible for owners to enjoy off-leash activities with their pets in various environments. The approach focuses on teaching dogs to make good choices rather than simply correcting bad behavior.

Effective dog training methods range from positive reinforcement to balanced training techniques. Positive reinforcement focuses on building confidence through rewards and is commonly used alongside other methods to create a well-rounded training approach.

How long does dog training take?

Program duration varies based on the service selected:

  • Starter Training: 1 private lesson
  • Basic Obedience Package: 4 private lessons
  • 1-Week Board & Train: 1 week of immersive training plus owner handoff session
  • 2-Week Board & Train: 2 weeks of immersive training plus owner handoff session and lifetime refreshers
  • Puppy Orientation: 1 private in-person session

Factors that influence the timeline include your dog’s age, the severity of behavioral issues, and how consistently you reinforce training at home.

Do you guarantee results?

The training programs teach guaranteed commands as outlined in each program description. However, it is important to understand that complete fixes of major behavioral issues such as dog aggression or people aggression, cannot be guaranteed. Training can help give owners better control and help manage these issues, but promising a cure or guaranteed complete resolution would not be accurate.

Aggression and reactivity can stem from many factors, and complete resolution of major issues such as dog aggression or people aggression cannot be guaranteed. Training can help owners gain better control and manage these concerns, but outcomes depend on the dog, the severity of the behavior, and the owner’s consistency after training.
